Manufacturer’s Need a Skilled Workforce
“In addition to a strong economy and less regulation, our manufacturers need a skilled workforce. HL works with local high schools and community colleges to develop programs to ensure they have trained workers and many students have jobs upon graduation. Last Congress, we were successful in passing bipartisan, bicameral legislation to revamp our nation’s workforce development system.
I continue to focus on ways to improve our workforce training system by encouraging more apprenticeship programs (LEAP Act), correcting flaws in our system that prevent unemployed workers from seeking retraining (Opportunity KNOCKS Act), and involving our universities in the manufacturing process (Manufacturing Universities Act).” – U.S. Rep.
